Beautyworld Middle East 2026: Conversations shaping the Future of Fragrance

From emerging fragrance preferences to the growing convergence of scent and skincare, Beautyworld Middle East 2026 offered valuable insights into the future of fragrance formats.

For the third consecutive year, Microcaps joined the event in Dubai, reconnecting with industry partners, meeting new faces, and gathering feedback on how fragrance experiences are evolving.

Exploring new fragrance directions

This year, we introduced three new fragrance directions to gather consumer feedback: Oud Nocturne, a spicy, oud-inspired scent evoking the atmosphere of a traditional market, alongside formats with Vanilla and Musk at its core. These additions reflect the interest in exploring alcohol-free fragrance formats with scent profiles adapted to Middle Eastern preferences.

As Giulia Biffi, Commercial Director at Microcaps, highlighted, understanding local preferences is essential to developing products that respond to different markets and consumer expectations.

The evolution of fragrance

One of the event’s highlights was the Next in Fragrance panel discussion, “The Evolution of Scent: Alcohol-free Fragrance and the Skinification Movement,” moderated by Microcaps co-founder Michael Hagander, with Robert Sabet of Kayali, Mohamed Abdelghany of Givaudan, and Faiza Hussain of The Skin Shrink.

The discussion explored how fragrance is becoming more than something we wear: it is increasingly part of personal rituals, self-expression, and multifunctional beauty experiences.

Three key takeaways stood out:

  • Fragrance and skincare are converging. Consumers are increasingly interested in products that combine scent with additional benefits for skin, scalp, or hair.
  • New formats must deliver real value. Novel textures and applications need to be intuitive, convenient, and easy to integrate into everyday routines.
  • Technology opens new possibilities. Encapsulation and complementary delivery technologies can help brands explore new sensory experiences and rethink how fragrance is experienced.

As the panel highlighted, moving beyond traditional alcohol-based formats also brings formulation challenges, but creates opportunities to explore new product concepts and multifunctional benefits.

Building trust through innovation

For Microcaps co-founder Alessandro Ofner, returning to Beautyworld for the third year was also an opportunity to see familiar faces: people who have followed our journey or encountered our products in the market. Building that recognition and trust over time is an important part of bringing new technologies to the industry.

For fragrance and cosmetics brands, the opportunity is clear: innovation is not only about creating a new scent, but rethinking the format, functionality, and experience around it.

At Microcaps, we look forward to continuing to work with brands to explore what alcohol-free fragrance technology can make possible.
